Sheeting water
Yes, the sheeting should work, particularly well if you have an LSP applied (Last Step Product Mike - wax or sealant). As far as the leaf blower, it works wonders. I bought a cheap one from Amazon for $30 specifically for this purpose:
Amazon.com: Weed Eater WEB160 7.5 Amp 160 MPH Electric Blower: Patio, Lawn & Garden
It gets all of the water out of cracks and crevices like out of the grille, mirrors, rain channels on the roof, etc. as well as off of regular surfaces. It's wonderful and I hardly have to use a drying towel at all. It's also quick so water droplets don't have time to dry and leave spots when it's sunny outside.

I'd never have a bare hose.
I have a twist nozzle thing that's covered in rubber. I'm careful with everything but I'd hate my life if I ever accidently grazed the car with the bare end of a hose.

+1 for being careful but you would have to be pretty careless to hit your car with the bare end of the hose

Maybe I should dilute my washing solution more... anytime I wash my car, any and all protectants get stripped off >_<
what are you using? like with my chemical guys citrus wash its 2oz/gal to strip or 0.5oz/gal to just wash it so it is a big difference between washing/stripping

And then over the sealant:
P21S 100% Carnauba Wax - 6.2 oz | Detailed Image for light paint
Migliore: Original for dark paint
I love watching water fly off my car after that.
This is usually done every 2-4 weeks.
Remember this picture?

Water doesn't sheet off of my cars AT ALL after a wash

The line is caused by me using my jelly blade. (black surface). Ignore the dots; dirty camera phone lens. I don't know why everyone's so deathly scared of those
