I have a few questions about detailing.......

After having a little ding in my new car I have decided I want to be able to take care of it and be able to maintain the finish on my car. This means getting an a PC 7424. My problem though is that I do not have a garage, therefore no electricity. I plan on using a power inverter, about 700watts. Has anyone used one of these for their 7424?

Since I have to purchase a power inverter in addition to the PC, I am trying to keep the costs down and not spend over $200. I am looking for something simple as I am not as hardcore as some of you guys about detailing. I just want a basic shine free of swirls. I would like to know if the pad that comes with the PC will get a few jobs done? What is the one general duty polish I can buy for getting swirls and some scratches out in addition to getting a good shine?

For minor corrections like swirls, go with a light polish like Menzerna Power Finish w/ white pads.

I'm not sure if the new PC comes with a pad or not but most likely you will need more than 1 pad to polish a car. Becomes a real hassle if you have to keep cleaning the 1 pad every couple panels and drying it.

The light polish is probably all you need if you take real good care of your car like polishing it atleast once or twice a year and keep up with your paint protection stuff like sealants and wax. If the combo above does not remove most of your paint defects then you might want something more agressive like using a green pad or use a medium polish w/ orange pad.

the white pad that comes with PC 7424 is not for a car usage I think...

therefore you have to buy pads like Lake Country White Polishing Pad and/or Lake Country Orange Polishing Pad depends on your paint condition.

I too recommends Menzerna product like Menzerna PO106FA Nano Polish (Super Finish) or Menzerna Power Finish PO203S
with Lake Country White Polishing Pad.

good luck on your detail

Bad idea to try and detail a car with a PC via inverted power... Lolz. Either do it the right way or have a professional do it.

The PC is too much power? I have seen that these inverters can power small refrigerators and LCD's, I am not sure a PC that puts out between 3.7 and 4.5amps is more than that. As far as the right way, I am sure millions of people in apartments have this problem, but want to do the work themselves.

Find a friend where you can do it. Plus if you live in an apartment, how do you plan to wash it before you start polishing?

The bucket system. My PC will be for touch ups, no hardcore detailing will be done. Don't really have time to take it to detailers. I wish I could use something cheaper to get out swirls and scratches, but it seems like any cheaper buffer/polishers will not work well.

I believe that's 560 Watts, not 56 Watts.
