Dusty Cars
I'll bet most of the people saying the dusters scratch are just repeating what others have said.
If you do happen to "scratch" with the duster, it's only the very light, only visible in the right type of lighting, type of scratches that will easily come out with a light polish.
I just have to get that dust off all the time and I'm not gonna break out the hose etc. every time. It usually takes a full 24 hours before the car stops dripping etc. and I can roll down the windows without gettin' 'em wet etc. etc.
If you don't know WTF you're doing when you wash, you can scratch your car up pretty bad just doing that too.

A couple of clean MF towels and Poorboys S&W is all I use to remove dust. PB's S&W has lubricants and cleaning agents so that it will not scratch your paint. Not all QD's have this and are meant only for clean surfaces so pay attention to what type of QD you are using.
As for the California duster, when used properly it can be an effective tool. The problem is the vast majority don't know how to use it properly and in turn will induce marring and swirls. I personally would never use one and will stick to MF towels and a good QD.

The people that don't know how to use one probably don't know how to properly wash their cars and are scratching them this way too (and then blaming it all on the duster). One of my first jobs as a teen was detailing cars and I developed plenty of good habits early on.
Has anyone tried Poorboy's World Spray and Wipe (S&W)?
