Washing the GEE in Direct Sunlight

I just read somewhere (much less reliable than here) that washing your car in direct sunlight is one of the worst things you can do for the paint. Is that true? My GEE lives in the garage but I take it out to wash it. I hose it generously, then wash it, rinse it off and drive it back into the garage immediately after rinsing while it is still wet and dry it off with waffle cloths.

I am in South Floirda so the sun and heat (the GEE is OB) are brutal, especially this time of year.

I think the problem with washing in direct sunlight is fear that the soap may dry. In the sun it takes me a lot longer to wash my car as I only wash one panel at a time, and I rinse much of the car off after each panel.

My paint still seems to be in really good shape, since my last polish, and I've washed it on more than a few occasions in the sun.

Avoid the direct sunlight if possible. It dries the soap too quick and causes waterspots.

Yeah you should probably wait til the sun sets to avoid any chances of the soap drying too quickly... I've also heard that the paint on our cars (especially our Black Obsidians) can be more than 70 degrees hotter than the sun outside when sitting under direct sunlight... So if its 90 degress outside, your paint could be 160 degrees!!! That would probably just bake the soap right onto your car... So with that said, try and park your car under a tree for a while before washing it... Preferably one that doesn't drop sap all over your car though...

Thanks. I always have my car in the garage EXCEPT when it is on the move or being washed. Washing early morning or late afternoon does seem to be the best idea though.
