Dirty Wheels

how do I clean my wheels, i use to drive an hour to school on this really muddy/dusty highway once a week and after a wash one time my buddy sprayed tire black on my wheels and said it would help it keep its black

but i found that it just made it a lot more resistant to water, so above the thin layer of dirt is a waxy coat of w.e the ****
i've scrubbed pretty damn hard with a scrub with soap and it barely got cleaner....

I guess I do go over it with a spong/brush with gold class before that.

ya those rubber shine stuff works fine, even the cheap ones at walmart, u just gotta wipe off the dust after the first spray, then reapply, comes off easily

For the tires, I prefer just soap and water with a scrub brush as I don't want any harsh chemicals near my wheels. When dry, I use a tire dressing. I like Poorboys Bold N Bright.

For my wheels, once again soap and water with a microfiber. Occassionaly, I'll use a quick detailer but only if the wheels aren't hot.

Don't use wheels cleaner unless you have baked on brake dust that soap will not get off, it stripped the finish on my OEM G35 19's.

What you should do is.

1. Wash the wheels and tires with dish soap use a rag or sponge.
2. Remove the brake dust you missed, and dry them with a MF towel.
3. Get a product like wheel wax, or just use a cleaner wax and wax all four wheels. Wax it like you would the paint on your car, apply the wax, let it dry, then buff it off.
4. Use a brush on tire shine on the tires.

Waxing the wheels will make it easier to clean off the brake dust, and never use a tire shine on the wheels, that only makes the dust from the road stick to it.

I also clean the inside barrels of the wheels. I used to take my wheels off to wash and wax the inside of the wheels, but now I'm using a powerstick
