Just a word of warning guys...here's my story and it's true..

I've been using a one "touch free" wash for a few years now with no issues. Got my new G in Feb in MA and it was filthy. Wanted to get her rinsed off one morning...and it was about 20 degrees. I go into the bay and pull up to where it says stop and the thing starts going. It sprays across the hood and down the driver side and then I don't hear anything. Then all the lights go out on the wash status screen. All of a sudden I hear a guy behind me yelling something. I get out of my car and the freaking wash arm is jammed up against my taillight. The guy pulls on the arm and I was able to move out of the bay.

So now I've got soap frozen on my car and can't leave like that. So I go in and tell the station attendant. He comes out and gives me a freebie in the bay next door. I inspected that car for a good 10 minutes...swearing at him telling him they are going to fix any mark on the car.

Luckily...so very luckily...the thing came to rest on my taillight and didn't leave any mark, scratch or smudge. If that stupid arm had gotten to anything painted it would have been scratched for sure. I think I only had about 500 miles on the car back then.

My guess is that the sensors were probably frozen or had ice on them or something...I'm very careful now to use closed bay touchless washes in the winter...because as you can see touchless doesn't always mean "touchless"

Make sure the place looks like it's being maintained... those things can put a hurt on your car

I really enjoy washing my car myself though. I find it relaxing and enjoyable to make my car shine and I do get a sense of pride by doing it myself...but only in decent weather...although the last few weeks I've been doing it in 40 degree weather...still worth it...that is one sweet looking ride when all cleaned up...
