Shifter scratched...

I was just driving my car when I looked at my shifter and noticed that the polished metal/silver part is scratched pretty badly down the middle. I never wear rings, I wear my watch on my left hand, etc. My girl said maybe she accidentally scratched it while driving it, since she has a billion rings. Is this little silved piece replaceable or would I have to change the whole shifter? Has anyone else experienced this and know how much either remedy would cost?

Its bound to happen. The aluminum is scratch prone. Just let it slide and get some head in return. If it bothers you enough, get an aftermarket ****.

Not only do you have to watch your shifter, but the side door handles scratch easily as well. Some protective film on those areas would be great...like the clear bra film.

I found out in my Civic Si that all the little nicks and scratches in the aluminum shifter were coming from me putting my seatbelt on. I didn't realize it for a while, but when pulling it out from the side the metal clasp would sometimes nick the shifter ending up with a scratch. THis hasn't happened yet in the G though....

yea im sure that has to do with your seat position and how the car is laid out... it would be pretty hard in a G i think..

I noticed a scratch on the shifter of the car I test drove. I'm still trying to figure out a good way to protect the shifter & door handles. I wish they had used the same aluminum ("washi paper") finish throughout.
