Windshield Replacement?
Hey guys. Just had a real lg sized rock hit my windshield and it needs to be replaced. Crap started spider cracking from the passenger lower corner up to center point. I called the dealer and they quoted me $1200. Anyone with a better referral? That seems quite pricey.

It's a pretty new car, not sure if the glass is common to any other Infiniti/Nissan models (my guess is, no).
Are you filing an insurance claim or just paying outright? I ask because, they might be able to point you toward a local replacement shop. Also, depending on the laws in your state, you may have zero deductible on windshield replacement.

JD, where are you located? Some states cover windshield replacement for free, Florida being one of those states. You should check into the insurance laws regarding window replacement in your state before you shell out that kind of money to get it fixed.

Do it through a place that only does glass replacement like Safelite. That is who the dealer will call anyway when you drop it off to them. Not sure why it would be so expensive. It's really not any special kind of glass. The main difference is the dealership will order OEM glass, than call Safelite to install it. Safelite will use non-oem.

That sucks! I used Diamond Auto Glass (www.diamondautoglass.com) for my Honda a few years back. They were cheap and came to my office to do the work. They don't have the G37 listed on their website, but I did a quote for a 2008 G35 sedan and they are listing it at $664 + tax.

True that. It doesn't necessarily have to be OEM, but definitely pay attention to this before paying for the replacement.

I've held off getting it fixed because it's been raining lately here in the bay area. I called my agent and my deductible is $500 for this claim. It just suck bc it's just so soon!
