great mileage!

so 3 weeks ago i took delivery of my '09 6MT sedan. i fueled up and set the trip odometer the next day. yesterday i fueled up for the 2nd time. the gas light came on at (330mi) 528kms and i fueled up at (348.5mi) 558kms with 68L. although this only works out to 20MPG i think that is great range for 90% city driving. this is a bit better than my '04 G35. having a big tank is handy for less frequent fueling stops.

one interesting item is that i still had 8-9 litres left even after pushing the range a bit - i wanted to see how conservative the gas light indicator was.

i'm curious to see what range i can get on the highway. with the G35 i saw over 750kms on a couple road trips (before the gas light came on) so i think 800kms is realistic with the G37.

That seems to be the average you can get from a G37S. When I had my '05 G35 6MT, I was averaging between 24 to 27 mpg. With my 09 G37S I am getting between 19 and 24 mpg, but last year I averaged out to 21.9 mpg with my '09. I was kinda hoping it would have improved somewhat with the VVEL, but I guess not.

Yesterday was the 10th tank with my G37 - the first nine averages were about 29 MPG overall (22.5 - 23.5 US) - since then moved to a new home where there is less stop'n'go driving. I estimate about 70% freeway (70-75 mph) and 30% city (25-45 mph).

Yesterday the car took 16.268 US gallons with 400 miles on the odometer. So not only is that 644 km, but 24.58 MPG US overall - or almost 31 Canadian.

I'm not driving any different than with my G35, but only got that MPG on the highway.

Haven't tested straight highway.

I have confirmed my readings by calculation and the onboard MPG readings.

Now I have to cut down my driving a bit (about 2500 miles since Nov 19)!!

^ yup, good stuff. i don't really understand the people who bitch and moan about fuel economy from the G. for a car with 330hp and weighing ~3500+ you can't ask for better than 20-21 city and 27-29 highway.

i just finished off my 2nd tank. gas light came on at 325 miles (520 kms) but i haven't filled up yet. all city commuting kits to richmond.

Have done two straight highway trips (moved from Victoria to Kelowna) and first one got 34 MPG Canadian and the second was 35.5. Still travelling around 110-120 km most of the way so I can't complain - even with premium approaching 1.50 a litre.

How has yours been doing?

^ still averaging well over 500kms on my city commute. i have been booting down to Pt Roberts (which is close to work) to fuel up, saving ~$0.35/litre.

hopefully i'll go on a road trip or two this summer to stretch the G's legs a bit. i don't see any reason why 7-800kms isn't realistic on the hwy.
