What too look out for when buying a used G37

Hello Guys,

I am looking to buy a used 2012 or 2013 G37 Sedan, not to mod or race, but to have as a daily driver since I think they look cool, are fun and seem reliable.

From reading the forum I have gathered that in 2010 they did the face lift, and in 2012 they fixed the rear timing cover gasket. So I am sticking to 2012 2013.
But should I look for a particular trim if I want to find one with less issues ? I get there is the Journey and the X which is 4wd, but I live in TN and don't think I need 4wd.
Also, need automatic. Are the transmissions good on these cars and any difference in the trims? silly questions probably,
thanks for any insight.

No real transmission differences, I would opt for the Sport model for the following:
  • Big brakes
  • Sport-tuned shocks
  • Close ratio steering
  • VLSD rear differential
  • Staggered wheels
Look here for more detail:

Thank you for replying,

this might sound silly, but I would prefer a more plush or smooth ride for commuting etc. Would the Journey be a better fit for that ?

Thanks

Yes. Journey without the Sport Package will be more comfortable because the shocks are softer, the 17" tires will have more sidewall, and the non-sport seats are less supportive.

Not exactly what most people here value in the G37, myself included, but that's an honest answer.

Thank you, that answer is what I was looking for.

I just like the aesthetics of the car and the reliability. I am not sure if you have any other car that would look classy and still modern from infiniti that would be even more of a plush ride older model say 2010 and above.
Or should I also look at an older lexus maybe?

THanks again
