What's the different between a G37 Sport and a G37 Journey Sport Appearance?
Recently I'm getting a G37. One guy has 2009 G37 Sport Manual with 87000 Miles on it. Another guys has 2011 G37 Sport Automatic with 60000 Miles on it but $3000 more.
Do you guys think it's worth to spend $3000 more and get the second guy's G37?
Please let me know. I'm a rookie on G37.

Journey Sport appearance is only auto whereas the sport is only 6 speed manual I believe.

Other than that everything is identical.

Just so you know the G37 received a minor update for 2010+ models.

The user interface for the interior touch screen was updated, different front bumper with fogs at the bottom, different headlights, interior gauge cluster slightly revamped.

There are probably other things I can't think of.

If you are a diehard manual driver than you might want the 2009.

Otherwise the 2011 is a more updated G37

 

Look at the brakes on the 2011. If they don't say "Infiniti" on the calipers it's just the appearance option.

The real question here is do you want a stick or an automatic?

When I faced that conundrum I opted for the 7 speed automatic. It gets better mileage, a quick flip to the left and it's in sport mode and you can always move it manually if it helps your ego.

 

The Journey Sedan was the base model G37, with basic RWD. It was badged as simply G37.

The Journey Sport Sedan added all the appearance and performance upgrades, including VLSD, Akebono BBK, sport-tuned shocks, summer-only tires, 18" staggered wheels, sport seats, sport bumper, flappy paddles, and a close ratio steering rack... but was still a 7AT. It was badged as G37S, and was a heck of a bargain in a sport sedan.

The AWD Sedan was a base model G37 with AWD, and was badged as G37x.

The AWD Sport Sedan was sport-appearance only, without any actual performance mods except wheels, seats and useless flappy paddles. It was badged as the G37xS.

The Sedan with a manual transmission was actually its own sub-model, called the "6MT". It was identical to the Journey Sport, but with a stick shift, and was also badged as the G37S. From 2011 to 2013, the 6MT came fully optioned out by default... premium package, navigation package, all rolled into the model. Good luck... pretty rare car.

I have an 09 sedan.

'11 is far superior for technology if your into music, bluetooth, etc.

'09 is not the best with that. I believe you need nav for a lot of those functions which I don't have.

 

Infiniti offered a Sport appearance pkg in 2011. This model came with the non sport bumper but with added aero front lip and limited edition 18" wheels. It was basically a Journey model with a front lip and bigger wheels. The Sport model comes with LSD, Akebono brakes, sport steering ratio, sport front seats, and if it was the Journey Sport it had an automatic transmission with paddle shifts. The appearance was lame and it confused people because there was nothing about that resembled a sport model. It was as it stated, an appearance. Don't confuse it with the Journey Sport because that car has everthing the 6mt model has but with an automatic transmission.

 

Wrong. My 2011 says Infiniti on the calipers but that is because it has the akebono bbk. It's a true journey Sport model but it's 7AT.

 

Pay the extra $3k for the 27,000 fewer miles. No doubt about it. Plus when you go to trade in your car years from now it will be worth more as it is a 2011 vs a 2009. Double win.

 

Very true. The 2011 is a slightly revised G37 with updated features compared to the 2009.

The Nissan (Akobono) sport brakes are pretty darn attractive. Although I saw a set of 6-pin calipers on 2-piece rotors today... gorgeous Audi S5. Made me think my brakes are just so-so.
