New Car Advice

My 08 g37s Coupe just got totaled in an accident and I will be needing to replace it soon.

Background: Live in MN and just starting to have a family (coupe won't do anymore).

Im looking at a 2011 Infiniti M37x and a 2012 FX35.

I havent test driven either of these vehicles but will, as soon as I recover.

I like driving cars vs larger vehicles.

I enjoy the power of my G and the sport feel.

Styling and interior appeal is a big deciding factor.

Both seem to offer great options as all Infiniti's but what is everyones opinion on the direction I should take. The M is a little more expensive but has more power but the FX35 is a tad cheaper but doesn't have the 3.7 V6. Im not trying to race around at all but I like to have the power when I need it.

Any thoughts on what would be a better direction?

Thanks

Thanks for the input.

I personally would lean towards the fx based on what you said. That extra trunk space will prob come in handy being that you're starting a fam. I don't think power would/should be too much of concern bc your fam is the priority. Safety would be what's on my mind. How often r u gonna try to be going from 0-60 in 5 sec with your Fam in the car?

Hope u heal quick n get better soon.

Thanks... well said.

I looked at a 12 FX35 with 25k mi - dealership asking $36,995
The engine felt plenty peppy but honestly not that much trunk space. I did however really like the styling and the drive still felt pretty sporty.

I also looked at a 11 M37x 23k mi - dealership asking $37,899
This is a very tall car, at least coming from a g37 coupe. Plenty of space inside and a huge trunk. There is still plenty of power when you need it. The steering felt a little less responsive than what I am used to but it still handled well none the less. Interior is beautiful on this car.

Do these prices sound about right? The FX had the premium pkg. The M37x had the deluxe touring package.

Why not a G37 sedan?
M's are bigger and way heavier. They drive like a tank compared to a G sedan.

I actually considered a G37 sedan and I may still go that route but the M and the FX35 just felt more distinct. I feel like I see more and more sedans everywhere I look compared to the M and FX.

When I drove the M and FX I expected them to feel big and clunky but to my surprise neither of them felt that way. Oddly enough the FX felt more sporty than the M but both were quick and controlled enough for daily highway driving.

I don't expect to get the same performance out of either that I did from my G37 coupe but I do look forward to the additional space.
