Buying G37 soon, need advice!

Hey guys, i currently own a honda civic Si and owned hondas all my life. Time to move on and upgrade . Yesterday i test drove for the first time something other than a honda, a 2009 G37s 7-speed. I loved the car and going to do everything possible to get into one of this but before i make a decision, i would like to know from you guys what you think it would be a better choice, getting the 6-speed manual or the 7-speed auto/sport shift. I really enjoyed for the first time driving a non-manual car and shifting on steering wheel which was pretty cool but since im new to this cars, i dont know what would be the best way to go. My brother-in-law recommended to go for the auto/sport shift because of the "faster shifting" and option of having it auto without having the stress of shifting back and forth specially driving in the city sometime gets annoying. Which one its faster if i was to upgrade and slightly build or boost? Also should i stay with RWD or aim for a AWD coupe which its hard to come across with where i live? Thanks for all the input!!

mostly driver preference.......... hard for us to tell you what you should buy

if you're planning on adding lots of power, I'd recommend manual, it will handle the increased power better than an auto w/ a torque converter

How about the rwd vs awd. Ain't all awd heavier?

It depends what you're looking for. In NY I'd imagine AWD will do you well, which is only available in the 7AT. I think the AWD adds all of 250ish pounds, but IMO is made up for by the fact it really jumps of the line without wheelspin. Unless you are a diehard MT guy, I think you can't really go wrong either way.

My previous car was stick and I still have loads of fun in the 7AT. Do I miss having a manual? Yes and no. I certainly don't miss traffic. To be honest it really depends on what you're planning to do with the car and your commute. I think all models will handle a turbo setup. Test drive both and see which you like better.

Well I only plan using it summer time. I think I'll prefer 7at looking at most sports cars how days are sport shift. Now another thing I was wondering do their tranny handle the launching of the line good without breaking.

I tend to be a more attentive driver in a manual than auto. Sometimes it's more work, other times its more play... To each their own. Only you really know what **YOU** want.

I just sold my Honda Civic yesterday and bought a 09 G37S, I liked the 7SA. The paddle shifters were sexy and i can be lazy if i want to

Now with a 7AT paddle shifter, do they have launch control or can i launch car at certain RPM if i was to take car to track and race from a dig/stop. Also would it mess up tranny doing this? i know mitsubishi EVO tranny goes bad real quick after a few launches thats one reason why im staying away from those cars... does having awd vs rwd make a difference in transmission reliability during launching car at track? those are my major concerns regarding the 7AT with paddle shifter

on an automatic transmission car, launch control = your left foot on the brake

as a I said earlier, if you plan on abusing the car, a manual will last you longer than an auto

I'll go test drive the manual see how it feels. I liked the 7AT already but don't want to make a decision until I experience both. I know ill miss driving manual if i take auto, all ive driven for the past 4 years are manual sport cars. Thanks all for the input!
