Anyone Order?

Hello All,

I normally hang out over the Coupe section but I have a general purchase question. Has anyone ordered an Infiniti? I'm in the market for a M Hybrid and inventories within 150 miles are pretty slim. I don't want to spend that kind of money and have to settle on color/options. I was wondering the following in general about ordering a car from Infiniti:

How long does it take?
Are you at a disadvantage negotiating over the price when ordering vs in stock or nearby?
I would assume most dealerships will try to talk you out of ordering, true?

I ordered my 08 coupe back in 07 a the release of the model.

I was told 6-8 weeks, it took about 4 or 5 if I remember.

Negotiation wasn't that great because they were just releasing the G37 coupe at the time, I paid less than sticker, more than invoice. Should be better on a car that's not brand new and highly anticipated.

Yes, they will always, always, always try to get you to buy what they have on the lot right now. (SWAT - Sell What's Available Today). Ignore that and get what you want, not what they can make commission on today. Make sure the salesperson you are dealing with understands that you are a serious buyer and that you will only consider buying a car from him if he can order exactly what it is hat you want and that he not try to take you into or out of anything. I had mine try that once (they're trained to). I asked him if he'd buy a house in a neighborhood he didn't like or buy strawberry ice cream if he hated it just because they had lots of it in the freezer and didn't want to go in the back to scoop him the vanilla he asked for? No? Then shut up and sell me what I'm asking you for and not what you are motivated to get off your lot, otherwise I'll walk out and shop elsewhere. I will buy it, just not here and not from you. Message received, no further BS. He was actually cool after we'd established the rules and he realized I wasn't a mark.

Get what you want. Good luck!

Thanks BB .... if they can get one from a dealer that's further than what I've had the strength to search for, I'm cool with that. The one local dealer does have one with the features/options I want in Forest Grey. I need to see that color in person as it's tough to get an opinion on an internet swatch.

I have no problem walking away, I'll be paying for 80% of it in cash so they better realize I'm serious. Just torn on the package that offers all the blind spot, lane intrusion stuff ....
