USAA services to purchase G ?
USAA services to purchase G ?
Hello!
I have been looking at the G37 for some time now and I'm fairly certain this will be my next car. I won't be ready to purchase until around this time next year, but I like to plan things long in advance to make it easier at the end.
I have my USAA account and have been pricing using their car buying services feature just to get an idea of where things might be. I looked around on this forum to see if others had gotten the pricing and found that it seemed like there were a few others who had indeed gone that route.
Here are a couple of questions I have:
1. Do you need an active military ID or do you simply need the USAA account (I believe the latter)? Long story short, I myself was not the one in the military, but was with someone who was (which is how I came to get a USAA account) and unfortunately that is no longer and thus I do not have a military ID, but still have the USAA account (once a member always a member).
2. How close do dealers normally get when dealing with the USAA service? I know it's not actually USAA, but rather a company USAA uses/refers to/etc. Most of the prices I've been seeing are around $1,500 below invoice (which seems incredibly low). To be honest, if I could get the car -at- invoice I would be a happy man. Do the dealerships -have- to honor the price if they have the car in stock or is it just a haggling tool (because USAA says it's the way to get the car with -no- haggling)?
I appreciate any information that can be given.
For the record, I'm looking at a Blue Slate Journey with the Premium Package and the auto transmission (I just prefer auto most of the time).
Thanks again!

Using USAA was the best thing ever when I bought my G. And for the record, it is actually USAA, not a subsidiary or anything like that you deal with.
You just have to print off the form once you go through the online stuff and it basically shows that you are using the USAA car buying service. At the dealership where I bought my G (Infiniti of Denver) the general manager is prior Army, so that made it very easy for me. But even if you have a d1ck dealer, they can't change anything on the USAA pricing so it wouldn't be a problem
But YES they must honor the price that USAA gives you. There truly is no haggling. I got my G for way below invoice
All in all I would absolutely recommend using it

Thanks for the quick responses y'all!
A couple more questions.
1. "Free Local Delivery" ... I see this for the 3 dealerships USAA shows/suggests/gives me the option for. The dealerships are ~130miles away (each), which isn't a problem for me to drive at all (it's roughly double my semi-daily commute), but if the "Free Local Delivery" means it could be delivered to a local dealer/place/whatever that would be perfect. Is this what it's meaning?
2. Not so much a question as a statement. I will probably get financing through USAA, but I also have a few credit unions around me and there have been a few cars where we've gotten 1.9% or 2.9%. We will see!
3. Does Infiniti have any yearly incentives that seem to be consistent? I am likely looking at the February-March time frame for next year. I'm looking at that time frame for one because I need to make sure finances are all straight and number two I know sometimes there are deals at the beginning of the year.
Thanks again. I know it'll be a while before I get my car, but at least I know when I do, it'll just be a fly-by pick-up (or at least close to it).

Might as well wait an extra year for the new body style 2013 to come out. Of course you do risk the first year problems that every vehicle faces. USAA are amazing. I have only heard good things about the service you are talking about. I just used them for the loan.
Someone mentioned that this service was actually USAA and not an intermediary...that isn't actually true. The service is provided by ZAG and is also available via zag.com to others (say if you have an AMEX).
Also, keep in mind that the price that ZAG/USAA Car Buying Service gives you includes incentives and offers that you might not be entitled to (e.g. owners loyalty rebate) so don't assume that the agency will automatically honor the price. Infiniti dealers can, however, show you the assumptions that went into the pricing that the service gave you and explain if something doesn't apply.
Hope that helps! I used both VPP D-plan and USAA buying service when working a deal for my G that I am picking up tomorrow and VPP was the better option for me (but realize not everyone has that option).
