Where are you located? $41 sounds high for a sedan. If they told you that $42,685 is msrp, I would price it on infinitiusa.com. Shop around at different dealerships. We have salesmen on the forums that could prob get you a better deal.

In February I drove almost that exact car (PG w/o the grill) off the show room floor for a hair over $38k. $42k seems high to me.

Check out Edmund's TMV price for your area. If the demand's high bargining power will be low.

I come up with an invoice price of roughly $39,250 for that setup.

I really wouldn't pay much more than that. They will take invoice price for these cars. You may have to sit there and have them BS you for a half hour, but it's worth a couple thousand bucks and the satisfaction of watching salesmen sweat.

Ask them what the invoice price is. They will tell you. Then tell them you will pay that. They will act like it's a joke, but when it comes down to it they want a sale. they are still makeing money on it.

They want more than invoice because when they sell it at invoice, the commission they get is usually only $100 or $150. I'm not saying he should pay more than invoice, it's just some people paint sales people as monsters for wanting to make some money.

You have been completely mislead. Dealerships do not actually pay invoice price for a vehicle. When they buy in bulk, they get discounts and after they sell a vehicle they get the holdback from the manufacturer. You should offer them 5% over the actual dealer cost, not invoice cost. Here is a link to a good site that will help you make an informed decision. Dont let the salesman bully you around. If you have to hold them there on night to get the price you want than be prepared. Of course I paid MSRP for my G37 because I pre-ordered it, but I was prepared for that. However, all of my other vehicles, I have bought used, and I have only paid roughly $500 over the actual trade-in value. My last car that I just purchased this past month, I purchased for 8k under list price, and actually got it for 2500 under trade-in value. I actually kinda feel sorry for them. But I am a smart consumer and refuse to be played again.

Exactly, the dealerships don't pay invoice price. They would like you to think that, but they don't. I don't care if salesmen want to make more money. That's their job not mine. My job as a consumer is to pay the lowest price possible.

You might be able to get below invoice, but I think that invoice is a fair price for the car. I feel like everyone wins in that situation. You get a great deal and the dealership gets to stay in business. In my mind they should be happy to make a sale right now with the economy in the state that it is.

From another thread - do some research and you will be greatly rewarded...

New 2009 G37 Premium Coupe - $1,100 BELOW invoice
A local dealer is having a special promotion until the end of the month for their preferred customers. They sent me an email and also left a voicemail. They are promoting it as "Employee Pricing". It's the model/options I'm looking for.

G37 Journey Coupe - Premium & Illuminated Kickplates
Sticker - $40,995
Invoice - $37,715
Offer - $36,645
VPP Estimate - $36,368 (My calculation)

That offer is $1,070 below invoice. From what I've been reading, that's a very good offer on a 2009. I have to make a decision in the next few days.

I asked about 0.0/0.9/1.9% financing and was told that the low financing did not apply to the quoted price.

Thoughts - deal or no deal?
