How is everyone getting invoice?

According to Edmunds the coupe I'm looking for (MW, nav, prem, sport, spoiler) is

MSRP: $43,765
Invoice: $40,147
TMV: $43,548

My dealer loosely said they'd come down $1500, which according to that, is a good deal. How is everyone getting invoice?

Looking at a late Feb delivery.

The other option is that I go back to Munich and pick up another 3er...

it is always good to have cash in hand if you got the money they hate to see you walk ou the door. Always make them call you back a few time don't be in a rush to buy but make sure they know you are looking at oters delaers/cars.

Yea, I already told him I was going to talk to the other to area dealers. Problem is, no one seems to have the car I want. My guy finally found one on the dock, so I'm guessing they are going to have the same problems. That sorta cuts own their bargaining power.

Wow, the BMW's have come up in price. When I got mine last year invoice was ~44k, now with the same stuff its up over $47k. Not much wiggle room there with an MSRP of $51k

easiest thing is to have multiple dealers compete against each other. that or just get vpp hook-ups.

hmm yeah like most people said you have to be patient and make them different offers and go to several dealers and get quotes from them.

also are you talking about the 09 or the 08. for the 08's right now they are giving out invoice cause they want it out of their stock and for 09 they are not doing invoice cause I tried getting a 09 but the dealer wouldnt budge at all so I ended up getting a 08' for invoice price

You'd think. And the guys at my dealer tell m that they sit around and do nothing 75% of the day. Get in in the morning, answer some emails, return some phone calls and then essentially just sit and wait for customers to trickle in. Seems like you could fill that time up with a sale, even if its low margin. Although the flip side is that they may not want to sell you the car for that cheap if they think they could sell it to someone else for a bigger profit. That's the nice thing with the European Delivery program with BMW. The cars don't come out of the dealer's allotted inventory so they are much more likely to del than if they knew they could sell that same car to someone else for list price.

The other problem I had is that when I bought my G35 from an out of state dealer I got lower quality service from my dealer because I wasn't one of their customers. I wanted to buy the car from them, but they didn't have what I wanted. When I asked for a loaner the one time I got the response of "Did you buy your car from us?" To which I replied, "So because I didn't you're going to give me crappy service?" I was none too happy.

I've had many customers tell me that they'd gladly pay an extra hundred dollars (or two) in order to have me on call to answer any question they have about their car.

I'll also schedule service appointments for my customers, if they call me instead of the dealership.

that kind of crap is unacceptable. you should make sure to mention it in their surveys. the surveys have a big impact on dealers. i know a couple friends have blasted our local dealer and they made some changes.

as far as money, dealerships make way more $ from their service departments than sales. the more volume they move, the more cars/benefits they get from corporate. if a dealer is being difficult then its their loss. but you also have to be reasonable as a customer.
