Comments on this deal for 08 G37s 6MT

About to be a new G37s owner, excited..

So, I just pulled together all the Edmunds info, emailed a couple dealers, have the following offer:
  • 2008 G37s 6MT - Blue Slate
  • zero miles - new
  • Premium Pckg
  • Splash Guards
  • Cargo Net
$36,655 + tax/title

Basically: pre-destination charge invoice - holdback - $1000 + 3% profit for them + $815 destination charge = 36,655.

What do you guys think, good deal? Yay or Nay? No Navi btw.

I also asked about a Pearl White one, he said +$970 because he had to bring it from another dealership that is far & it would cut into his profit vs selling from stock.

Cool, so that is definitely a deal you guys would take.. I was trying to get a sense of whether I could do significantly better, but there is little room to play with their 3% profit.. I probably could never get them to go to $35 or $36k.

always try to go lower. that may be around invoice but they need to get rid of 08s to make room for 09s so they are desperate. the 09s are sitting at the port just waiting for now. as for the ip car, they can trade 1 of their lot cars for it so the $970 is also crap. who cares about their 3% profit, dealers make $ off maintenance rape not sales. the more the sell, the more they get to sell.

my best advice would be tell another dealer to beat that price, then go back and forth knocking each dealer lower til you're happy.

good advice. I am planning to play them against eachother a bit this weekend. As far as the Pearl White, they were arguing the cost of getting/picking up the car, not sure if that's a valid argument

i used 2 dealers against each other on my g35 and was able to get about $4000 off msrp before i got tired of waiting. the car was also 200 miles away and i think we ended up splitting the shipping costs so that was only $250.

Hey! First I just wanted to say good luck with your purchase. I recently just put a deposit on a Pearl White G37s with navi. They told me the same thing they told you because they didn't have my pearl white one in stock and they had to bring it in from Maryland, which is about 250miles away from me. If I was to take a car they had in stock, he said they could give it to me for invoice, but instead I paid 500 over invoice. I also went to a few other dealers and they told me the same thing. Hope this helps.

Short distances, they can trade cars. Long distances, it's not that easy. Dealers don't want a new car in their inventory that has 300 miles from being driven on a trade.

Yea, unless they flat bed it in, which is extra cost for the dealer and buyer.

sorry but i refuse to buy anything as "new" with over ~20 miles on it.

when you go out to a restaurant and order a steak medium-well, do they gave you a rare steak for cheaper and you agree with it? i dont think so. they can afford to take the hit for transportation since their cash cow is the service dept.

Yea, but the service department and sales department are two totally different things. As a dealer, if they are going to sell you a car for invoice, then technically they're giving it to you for cost minus the factory rebates they get. Several dealers in my area told me, that they wouldn't take a loss on selling the vehicle, which I understand because they were going to flat bed it in from 300 miles away. I'm sure Mike from Riverside can elaborate more on this topic
