Ok guys, so it had been brought to my attention by a coworker of mine, that if I was to buy a brand new car, in say FL for instance (I live in NY) it would end up being a lot cheaper and I would save an assload of money (because of taxes?). My situation is, I will more than likely be going down to FL for a few weeks for work, and while I am down there if I can get what I am looking for in the G37 there, and its cheaper I'll just spring and get it there. What really caught my interest in doing this was how my coworker told me she is gonna be getting a BMW 335i I believe it is, and if she gets it in FL it comes out to being $12,000 cheaper than in NY. So, any input on this matter is welcomed.

 

You're still paying the full amount of sales tax once you register your vehicle in your home state. I've never heard of a 12 grand savings on any car, but if that was possible, you still have to get it back home somehow and transportation costs are high now due to the fuel prices. Good luck either way.

 

u pay taxes for where u register the car. if ur gonna get NY plates, then u'll pay NY taxes. if u get florida plates, then u get florida taxes. to get florida plates u have to show proof that ur living in florida--xx amount of util bills and stuff.

 

Ahh I see. Ok, well perhaps she plans on staying down in FL for a while, I know that she has a condo down there. Damn.... Thanks for the input though.
