Should i go to the dealer yet?
Should i go to the dealer yet?
Ive been contacting several dealers and trying to have them run numbers on a payment for me. Now all of them obviously just want me to come in and sign the deal. Should i go and sit with the dealer yet if im still shopping around between dealers? Meaning should i go from dealer to dealer personally and see who's giving me the best price or should i just stick to the phone? Id like to meet who im doing business with but its hard to walk out of there without them trying so hard to get you in that car NOW.
Im going to be leasing most likely, even though im still trying to debate whether to lease or buy. A car is a depreciating item, and I dont want to deal with the hassle of trying to sell the car and not getting nearly what im asking for on it. It'll be nice to switch cars every 2-3 years and im also pretty much over and done with modding cars from my last car.

I recommend you lease.. If you already plan on getting a new car within 3yrs, its not worth the hassle or $$ hit of purchasing.
I would re-contact then and starts discussing leasing before you waste your time going to the dealer. Its going to be a long ordeal and you can get most of your answers by phone. Don't bother going in until your set to go all the way. GL.

My best advice, and I have done this with my last three car purchases including my G last month, is to get it done over the phone before you go in.
Go to Edmunds.com, price with options your G, call around and tell the dealers you are ready to buy today but only at invoice and no higher
Have the exact number with the breakdown, so they know that you know exactly whats what
Took me three or four calls, done deal
If you are trading in a vehicle, hit Carmax first so you know the minimum that your trade is worth - bring the printout with you
You want to elimiate as many variables as possible
If you have any doubts, make them fax you the offer so you have it in writing
Obviously, you could also do this via e-mail but I liked speaking person to person - I dealt directly with the delaship manager, let him know how serious and ready to buy I was and once he knew I knew the score it went down very easily
Good luck, and let us know how you do

If you want to get an idea of how much your monthly payments would be, use a calculator spreadsheet like the one at the link below. The spreadsheet is about 3/4 the way down and is called "4 Scenario Loan Spreadsheet".
http://www.carbuyingtips.com/car5.htm
I used this spreadsheet and estimated my monthly payment at 2.9% for 63 months to be $450. When I went to the dealer and worked the numbers there my payments are at $454, so I was right where I expected to be. The calc figures in tax, downpayment, trad'ins, etc.
