Price Check

I went and talked to my dealer today. I'm looking at Journey/Premium with Sport. They offered me 39,125+taxes & fees (almost 2,000 over invoice). Take off 1K for factory rebate and its 38,125++. Sounds a little high to me. I can wait. I was hoping for maybe around invoice? Then take off the 1K rebate. Seems to me the factory rebate shouldn't come into the negotiating equation, but of course the dealer is using it to show a discount he's not really giving.

Am I asking for too much?

You're not asking too much. I've heard of invoice pricings here in CA. Call around and push for invoice, then like you said, add on the rebate if you can. I think the most I would settle for right now would be invoice+500 but nothing more than that.
