Dealer wants $1400 after I got the car!
Hi everyone.
I recently leased a G37 coupe in New York City. I got it black on black, journey w/ nav, sport and premium. I leased it for 39 mo $563 a mo w/ $2000 down plus tax and other fees.
I paid $4640 out of pocket.
I got the car last week and today the sales manager calls me and tells me that he made a mistake and the final price should have been $6040 out of pocket. Then he says that my sales guy is in trouble for giving him and me the wrong figures and that he is going to fax me a credit card authorization form to charge me the remaining $1400. Both my sales guy and the sales manager keep calling me about the money. I checked the contract today and it says $6040 not $4640. I already signed the dotted lines and have the car in my garage, I dont know what to do guys?????

I'd say ignore them, but that's a little tough since it's actually written into the contract. Do all of the numbers say $6k except the check? If it was just a typo on the check, you might just have to fork over the rest. Otherwise, perhaps now would be a good time to try and get some freebies out of it since they screwed up??
I'm sure someone who has had more experience with a similar situation will post...

if you signed a document that states you owe $6040.00, you will have to pay the difference. it is a contract and you are bound by what is in writing. the dealer has legal avenues they can take if you do not pay the balance. save yourself the headache and pay what you owe.
This sounds very fishy. They tell you something and you believed them, and yet they wrote something else on the contract. If I was in your shoes, I would just return it and bring your business somewhere else.
Why would you even need to put money down on a leased car?

You were probably too excited when you signed the contract and not realizing the $1400 difference.
If its on the contract that you shoudlv'e "read" carefully, and plan to keep the car, then you have to pay the difference. Or like what others say. Return it and give your business somewhere else.

As others have said, if you signed it, then that's the deal. Having said that, I would doubt the dealer wants the car back, but if you take that approach they may be willing to rewrite the contract to match the transaction that took place. It's worth a shot anyway.
EDIT. I don't understand this whole lease thing anyways, if you have to put $2K down like he says, what is this $6K out of your pocket thing?

Wow, good luck with that approach.
