Talking My first time buying a car - lots of questions!

Hey all. Nice to meet everyone by the way! I'm so looking forward to purchasing my very first car. Here's the questions I have.

Where's the best place to get a loan at?
Is 7k a good down payment for a g37 with the works?
If I get a journey but get all the handy gadgets of sports equipment and everything, do I get the same feel and ride as getting the S version?
Any bay area people from the San Jose, Milpitas district bought a G37 cause I have yet to see one hehe!

I'm looking to buy it around next year say March timeframe. What do you guys think?

Congrats on your choice of a fine ride for your new car! My first car purchase on my own was a '79 Toyota Corona with almost 200K miles for $400.
  • The best place to get a loan is wherever you can get the best interest rate; probably at your local credit union or a credit union that you can join and get new car financing online.
  • Your down payment is a very personal thing, what's right for you isn't right for the next guy. Personally, I'm not putting down a dime except for the $1K deposit required to place my order. Some people are putting down $30K or more. Do what's right for your financial situation.
  • Yes. Except you won't get a 6MT which in my opinion is the only way to enjoy a performance car. Lots of others here love the 5AT and feel it's almost the same experience.
  • Not from the Bay area, can't help you there.
  • If you wait until March, you should be able to negotiate a much better deal than those who jumped on the first shipment off of the boat because the "NEW" factor will have subsided quite a bit.

Good luck.

For my situation, my down has to be around $20k for my comfort level...
If I could get a G37 for only $7k down, I'll sell my current Toyota Solara for $7k!!! =P

Price of the G37 around $42000 fully loaded.
Tax and paper fee another $2000.

Total would be close to $44000~45000.

After you put down $7000, you would have $37000~38000 left to pay for.

For example:
If you're gonna do 60 months loan with $37000~38000. You'd have to pay about... $740~760 a month....

I got my 07G35S for $40000 out the door. I put down $20000 and paying off the other $20000 with 60 months loan. My monthly payment is at $400 and I'm very happy with where I am.

I hope this helps you a little bit.

Thanks for the advise. I'm aiming around $350-$400 a month. I'd live very comfortable with no worries.
