I have found the G37 that I want in California, however the dealer is saying something about 'county' taxes on new cars sold? Being a non-resident, am I not exempt from this tax?
Anyway.. he said that in order to not pay it, the car would have to be driven 120 miles to the Nevada border and then noterized?? then I'm good to go.
Does any of this make sense to anyone who has bought in California?

Yeah, the deal with CA state tax is that if you take possession of the car in the state, you have to pay it. The non-resident exemption is only in WA, I'm afraid. The dealer in AZ (Scottsdale) just drove with me to Blythe, where we had a notary sign off on it.
Forewarning?
Hmmm... American customs is surly, but efficient. Canadian customs is friendly, but pretty slow. Assuming you're going over the border into AB?
If you're driving up through CA, I recommend going through wine country and the Redwood Hwy. Super fun drive, some good winding roads in there.
I'm astounded that anyone is buying them in Canada... I would have had to wait a few months to get the options I wanted, and from what I can tell, the AG colour isn't available in Canada. What are you getting?
Edit: Oh, make sure you email US border patrol to make sure that they got your paperwork in time. The dealer will fax it all for you, but it's probably a good idea so that you aren't stuck waiting.

Which border did you come through? Can I just go through any border or are there only certain ones?

The information is at the RIV website for US border patrol. Basically, you can go through any border, provided it's the same one you submitted your docs to.
Actually, right now I'm considering selling my AG and getting a black one. Give the price difference btwn here and the states, it would work out to about the same for myself, I'm just wondering where would be the best place to advertise it.

Are you not happy with the AG?
