2009 g37 sedan backup camera not working

Hey everyone I recently bought a 2009 g37 sedan this is my first Infiniti and I’m having an issue with the backup camera a few weeks ago the screen will just turn black and I read to check the wires in the back and I found one was disconnected and I connected it and now the backup camera still stays black but with guidelines now I checked the “secret” menu on the radio itself and and everything looks good my brother in law has an Infiniti as well and he was saying I have to take it to the dealership to get programmed so I’m wondering if that’s true . Any help will be appreciated

#1- There is no "programming" needed for the camera. No offense, but bro-in-law is wrong on that one.
#2- If you are getting the guidelines but no image, the issue is likely the camera and/or the wiring.
#3- Exercise caution with the "secret" (diagnostic) menu. NEVER "reset" anything.
#4- Do you have NAV and what wire was disconnected?

Read through this thread as it explains everything on properly diagnosing your issue.

It is quite common for the wiring in the flex boot between the trunk body and the decklid to develop fatigue breaks due to the repeated opening/closing of the trunk lid. The above thread will tell you how to test each circuit.

Report back and if you have any questions just ask!

(MODS move this thread to the A/V Tech section, plz.)
