I'm guessing he didn't do it yet, but i suspect its going to be a ton of work... will need to swap ECU, wiring harness, guage cluster, idk what else.

Lol, I know that much. I have the oem fogs but I don't feel like spending 250 just for one side mounting hardware..

Ha yeah it'll be a bit of work and I wouldn't recommend anyone even considering the task if you're on a budget or don't turn your own wrench.. Although, it's actually not that hard. It's only a weekend or even a full day thing. The hardest part will be the interior swap work with the center console, pedals and wiring. The rest will all mostly bolt on like it came that way minus the custom driveshaft. Its been done before but not very well documented so I'll be sure to take a TON of pictures and write all the details down. Again, this is last on my list, but I'll be compiling parts and research over the next several months and will be sure to keep this forum updated.


Update: I'm going to the 1/4 track tomorrow to get a base time before I get everything installed and start modding the motor. Wish me luck, I'll post slips/times this weekend.

Lol I feel your pain, well, I'm a huge fan of the Morimoto options that have come out. I hear the Infiniti Oval fog light option they sell is practically plug and play and couples with the bumper very nicely..

Well, I posted this in the track section as well but I figured I'd add it to my build for record keeping. With mufflers and a y-pipe my best time at the track was a 13.9611 @ 100.58MPH. It was 49 degrees and couldn't get any traction on the launch so I'm sure I can do better! Here are the slips. I officially have a base line time

Yeah, you definitely can't use the pass through anymore. I got this style, instead of the side mount, for two reasons.
  1. I like symmetry.
  2. I wanted to still be able to fit my golf bag in the trunk.

Ahh **** I didn't think about that, its tight enough as it is. Well, symmetry it is.

Edit: Yes I know their dirty, we practically played in the mud yesterday.

I made a quick video showing my before and after sounds of the Tanabe mufflers. I had the Top speed Y-pipe installed in both videos.

So the 5at does indeed runs 13.9, which is the same as the 7at. With a muffler and a y-pipe it's not exactly hp mods so I don't doubt a stock one can run that time with traction.

Nice work so far. I am curious to see the write up on the trans. swap. That seems like a time consuming, but worthwhile upgrade

I have no doubt when I go back with radials and the brake light mod I'll pass with a better time. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, I have read a ton on the 370z boards and am learning a lot. It's going to be a tedious job no doubt but really fun sourcing all the parts and just tackling the job one weekend. I'm in no rush and am only buying things from part outs or killer deals online. Also, after a ton of shopping I'm almost positive I'll be able to sell all my auto stuff to make up for the entire swap minus the race clutch and hydro lines. Should be a close price list. I already bought the 6 speed for only $200 so I'm well ahead of the game as it is.
