Kirk's Build Thread
I will say that this is not the exhaust to have if you're probe to migraines....
I just got my FI CBE and RHFC's installed today. Went with 2.5" piping and cats, no resonators on the X-pipe. It's perfect. You can hear the exhaust all the time but...on the highway when just cruising, you can't hear it hardly at all. I was very surprised at how loud, deep and thunderous the tone is. It has GT-R level depth and rumble.
It's not annoying to me but some might find it objectionable. I had a 5.0 Mustang when I was 18 with 2 chamber Flowmasters which was incredibly loud. I had hearing problems for the first month of driving it before my ears could readjust. So I've been hooked on loud, deep tone for a LONG time.
I love it! I was very tempted by the Meisterschaft but stayed the course with FI and am glad I did.
One thing I've found out with this system and my car, that you may have found out with FI is the difference in sound between outside and inside. I'm actually not a huge fan of the way it sounds inside. It's much more high pitched and muted. Does FI seem to be like that too?
^^ I have found that so far, there's not much difference to how it sounds inside versus outside the car. It's just deep, in an ostentatious kind of way. Under normal acceleration, it just rumbles. I was surprised that the VQ37 had the capability to make so much noise.
I agree, mine just sounds deep and throaty. I was on a conference call the other day and got on it a little bit. People at work have been asking me what I drive since.
You can take mine for a run whenever we meet up. Before the bourbon at least.

Works for me. We could swap cars on the way to the first distillery.
Just ordered a pair of R2C black hex filter replacements. Their website claims 40% more air flow, color me skeptical but we will see...

Looks like it would be difficult to assess when they're dirty.
They do look to be a little challenging to asses how dirty they would be, but because of that I would probably clean them every 4-6 months. Swap in the white filters for a day to clean the black filters then switch them back out.
I've got a few small projects coming in the next couple of weeks:
1. The R2C black filters will be here later today (Monday) and will hopefully be installed on this weekend.
2. Rexhavoc sold me his old grounding kit, so hopefully I will be able to install them this weekend, if not then the following weekend.
3. I am in the process of placing an order for cool white LED interior lights. If they come in this week I may install them this weekend.
4. I'm trying to find someone to paint my engine cover. I have an idea of what I would like to do to it, but I need to find someone who would be able to do it. Any suggestions?
5. Also, I will probably be placing an order for replacement engine bay bolts in the next month or so.
Also an update on my wheel situation. I picked up a set of Blizzak winter tires in 225/45/19 and 245/40/19. This is officially the first step to converting my summer rims (coupe 19's) into winter rims. Originally I wanted to buy a set of silver Vossen VFS-2 for my summer rims, but now I am questioning if I really want them or not. I'm not worried about the weight of the rims, but more about the design. Here are some others I'm considering right now:
The only issues I have with the Matte Black and Matte Gunmetal are the center caps. I would much prefer that they matched the rest of the rim. Does anyone know if I could replace the center caps that come with the wheels with the Infiniti OEM center caps?
I'm open to any other suggestions anyone else may have.

You really like those AG's, eh? They certainly have a certain flare to them. And I agree about the center caps... unless you go with black rims, I think they should match the finish on the wheel.
Here's are a couple of considerations you may or may not care about: can you get your hands between the spokes and clean your BBK calipers? And when waxing the rims, would these be easy, or more difficult than most? (I'm thinking difficult.)

I'm not sure.I spend a couple of hours last night looking around and these were towards the top of my list. There were a lot of really gaudy options, but I'm just trying to find something clean, something that doesn't distract you too much from the lines of the car, something elegant yet sporty at the same time.
Kirk, do the Forgestars do anything for you? GetYourWheels has some amazing finishes on their wheels so just another option. Plus you can get almost any offset so you could run a pretty aggressive squared setup if that's what you're after.
