Also I'm going to look into those new intake breather tubes - the OEM ones fit terribly.
Yeah I got the pictures off of one of their ebay listings.

I'll post some picture once I get the new tubes installed and let you know how the fitment is.

Should be good, don't be afraid to flip sides while test fitting. And get the stealth clamps while you're making the change.

I'm letting David put them on, since he is going to be giving everything a once over next weekend anyway.

I did a quick search on Z1's website and didn't see any stealth clamps.

Black Stainless Steel Stealth Clamps

Essentially, they're worm-gear hose clamps, painted black. I suspect they're good quality, IDK really.

Quality is good, they're slightly tacky as well. I may be ordering more this week if I do I'll let you know.

That said, if you're still contemplating wheels, I really like the silver AG's that you posted a few months back. Are those still under consideration or are you doing the Vossen's for sure?

Thank you for the kind words! I've decided to go with the Vossens for sure. The M580's were definitely a close second.

I set an appointment to have my trim rewrapped tomorrow in gloss black. Hopefully this time it will turn out better, otherwise I may ditch the vinyl trim all together, at least till I buy a house and try it myself.

Of course, like I mentioned above, I've also ordered the Z1 tubes, SPL endlinks for the front since I believe my OEM fronts are shot, and new Diode Dynamics reverse LEDs (I think 480 lumens), and I just ordered a set of Skyline illuminated kick plates.

I was finally able to have my chrome trim re-wrapped, and overall I'm 90% happy with it, there are a couple of small spots, but like John has told me in the past, at some point you just have to accept that good enough is good enough, its not going to be perfect. There is one spot that I'm not happy with and the installer accidentally had the exact-o knife slip and made a cut in my paint about an inch long. I may have to see if I can get them to fix it, but I'm not sure.

I took another trip down the Memphis to have everything checked out and relubed. Everything looked good, my OEM front endlinks are shot and my SPL endlinks didn't come in in time to have David throw them on, so maybe next weekend I'll put them on.

Here are a couple of pictures I took of my trip.

As I mentioned before, David has a Audi S4 sitting in his shop that he has installed a full exhaust, carbon fiber splitter, carbon fiber diffuser, and is in the process of bagging it. He showed me how the Accuair and E-Level systems work with the bags and I now have a new found respect for bagged cars, as long as they're done well. We talked for about an hour about bagging my G and I'm still contemplating it, but a bagged Audi looks much better than a bagged G, so I may not do it, at least not right now. Any way here is the beautiful S4.

About a 130 miles from home I decided to stop and top off my tank, I needed to get out and stretch anyway. I always reset my Trip A and all of the fuel economy history after filling up. I noticed that my new distance to empty on a full tank was about 480 miles. I had never seen it that high. So I decided to try to see what type of mileage I could achieve on the last 130 miles. I got 27.7 mpg avg, the highest reading I saw was 29.5 mpg, and lowest was 27.5 mpg. My estimated distance to empty on my tank (Trip A 130 miles + distance to empty 397) came out to be 527 miles.

So... have you officially settled into a relationship where your mechanic is 400 miles away?

I'm not going to drive down there every time something happens with my car or to have a small piece installed. For what I spent to drive down there twice, plus install, plus an extra tip I threw in I still came out cheaper going with him then having my mechanic here install just the coilovers alone.

I suppose that's better than an untrustworthy one just around the block
Sometimes having 100% peace of mind is worth the hassle, and maybe there's other things along the way, or at the destination that would make it even more worthwhile.

As far as bagged Audis looking better than bagged Gs, I guess it depends how everything else comes together. There's some pretty tasty bagged Gs around.

No argument from me. I'd probably do the same, particularly if there were a friend on the other end of the road trip.
