Solid aluminum engine-mount bushings "weren't bad"?

From: Framingham Ma,
Come on john. the reviews weren't bad, LOL
On a scale of 1-10, one being the same as ‘OEM’ and 10 being ‘extreme vibrations’…

-At idle there isn’t much difference between OE and Alum. (Scale rating-1)

-Under normal acceleration you can tell the car seems more in tact, like an undercover race car. (Scale rating-2.5)

-When you are accelerating fast..aka flooring it it’s solid, not crazy vibrations, but enough to make you a little giddy (Scale rating-7/8)

-When drifting, it feels smooth while in motion but stiff, it was a little different initiating at first because you can really feel everything. (Scale rating-RACECAR)

From: Framingham Ma,
Everything I found on the urethane mounts is "it's not bad at all" but no real review :/

Well I'm certainly looking forward to your review.

In my last car, at about 50K miles, I had the engine torque mount bushings replaced with solid poly from Energy Suspension. The NVH was pretty significant for what was an otherwise comfortable Nissan Maxima.

That said, it was also one of the best mods I did to that car. Loved it.

front wheel drive cars probably respond differently to poly mounts than rear wheel drive due to the orientation of the mount, transverse vs. longitudinal. The rocking back and forth of a transverse mounted motor would cause harsher vibrations. I made all custom poly mounts for an older Acura TL I had many years ago. I had both tranny mounts poly filled, side mount poly filled, front mount poly filled and rear OEM. there were no NVH increase at all. When I changed the rear to poly filled the vibration were severe. I'm betting the fact our engines are longitudinally mounted that the NVH increase won't be that bad. At least I hope it works out that way for you Mike.

From: Framingham Ma,
I'm hoping the NVH isn't that bad and is how it was perceived to be in the reviews I saw,.A ton of 370Z said they loved it. I really could care less about the NVH as longs as I don't feel like I'm sitting on bed that you add quarters too LOL. I just don't want to be taking RT turns and having the header hitting the steering shaft ( Happened twice yesterday get on/off the HYW) PIA

That is cool looking hardware, no doubt.

Did your shop give you an estimate, or are you just winging it? In other words, I'm interested in total cost, as well as your impressions.

And then I'm interested in your impressions once you come down from your mod high.

From: Framingham Ma,
Sure thing, Estimate was 4 hrs, so 4*95$ About $380, shop supplies push to about $400 +$200 for the mounts, for $600 and solves the problem I'll be very happy! BTW Talked to Stillen one time, sent 2 emails and 2 phone call, an the conversation I had was cause I called them again :/. The told me to just dent it? That's not really an answer, is it .

From: Framingham Ma,
So here is the tech's break down, BTW MUCH PROPS to Jason @ Motive!!

This is the email he sent me:
I wanted to take this time to email you the information I was able to get for you today. I will be breaking this down with the math on how close this header is to the steering shaft. Take a look at here Before anything was touched. ( PICS are in order in from the email)
Just 3.175mm in space! ( From the headers to the steering shaft.

After the mounts and a little adjustment on the rear mounting bolt for the exhaust yielded a gain of 1.245mm.... Adding the two blades to the right into our new total of 4.220mm

So... you gained 1 mm clearance, with mounts that won't rock as much as OEM.

Is that about the size of it? Hmm. GL.
