This was provided by GTM as the upgraded kit for the 5-speed. The 7-speed uses a different method?

The kit was mfg'd by 'Trans-Go'. May have been developed with the GTM guys, I dunno.

Wow I got to come see this build looks great!

 

We've been busy since the last post, but had a long holiday weekend. These things take time, even with no snags. Hector has barely had any other project on his lift and he's about 85% done.

We ordered a set of colder plugs from Sam yesterday and had him ship them next day. They are special plugs, as you know. He's got to put them in before final upper pipes.

I drove to the local Nissan dealership and picked up 14 qts. of 'Matic-S'. Sam recommended nothing but.

Jimmy asked me if I was excited and jumpy, as I'm stopping by often.

Actually, no. I'm more concerned with correct assembly than going for the initial rides. I'll have years to savor that. I am doing what I can (as errand boy and P/T tech) to help this forward.

Next day: Still in-progress.

Plugs arrived from CA to CT by 10am. Auto trans is back in, and I provided some flex hose for the BOV recirc tubes.

I ordered a set of the CAT 'test pipes'. Sam thought I already had them, and I thought they were in the package. A slight delay, but they will be here on friday. Thankfully GTM has them in stock!

Keep an eye on that oil filter collar, I would use a sealant on the threads for all the attachments \du-hickys - Mine was leaking after a few months and had to be resealed.

since you are getting the test pipes how come you decided to go with the 2.5" ? Wouldnt the 3" down pipe and matching exhaust been ideal?

 

That cardboard template is a sweet idea. I will definitely be using that in the future and for more than just automotive related projects.

 

Not for me. I wanted it quieter than louder and 600whp isn't in my future.

Some delays. Sam was Johnny-on-the-spot in sending out the test pipes w/resonators ASAP. They arrived last Friday. Thank you!

Once there they fitted them up, and the fitment had them sitting up against the floorboards, and 1/2" behind the cat-back flange. Sam advised us to remove the spacers under the engine and trans, but no luck. Still too close up, and too far back

Upon review, Jimmy, Hector, and I looked and decided that if we simply applied some heat and curved the 'S' bend downward from the engine side flange curve, it would solve both problems.

That said, the supply of oxy/acetylene was out, and first chance for replenish is probably today. Everyone took a pause and went on with other tasks.

These things happen.

Hector installed a Blitz boost controller, and will install an AEM AFR gauge low on the LH pillar.

Still waiting for my tuner (John Visconti) to get the ECU data to Sam.

Anyway, it's nothing but icy roads up here now, and with 15" of now due this evening. I'm in no big rush....

Will the zipties be able to handle the temperature of the oil lines or will they be secured later via something a bit more secure?

 

Those oil lines would have to get pretty hot to do anything to the zipties.

Ill google the temp that plastic melts at lol.
