Power stop front rotors grinding on new pads

I bought the k2915 power stop front brake kit with drilled and slotted rotors and pads. These are for the sport akebono sport 355mm front brakes. No issues since 2018. It was time to swap pads so I just got replacements from AutoZone. The replacement pads are about .03" larger in pad height and this causes the new pad to grind on a small lip on the rotor. I checked some other compound pads at AutoZone and they are the same. Shouldn't pads be universal for the application?
Do these rotors really need specific pads?
Never ran across anything like this before and couldn't find anything about it searching this forum.

I've gone ahead and ordered the same pads that came with the kit but now I have a set of 80 dollar pads damaged that I likely can't return.

Anyone have pad fitment issue running after market rotors?

Geesh. Zero replies. Is this in the wrong section or is this forum dead?
Well, here is the result of my issue.
The powerstop pads that came with the powerstop rotors are indeed a bit bigger on the inside diameter to clear the what apparently is the larger than stock OD lip on the power stop rotors.
Is this a fluke or common. No clue.

I had my rotors turned down and had the shop cut into the OD lip a bit so any pad would work.
Problem with this is that cutting into this lip dulled the tool a bit and the backside of the finished turned rotors were both rougher than they should be.
Kid at Reily's autoshop didn't know any better I guess.

I hand sanded the surfaces to the specified surface finish. Took about 10 minutes per side to bring them to about 20-40 Ra using a standard vibrating sander with 2-- then 300 grit paper.

Everything back together and the brakes are smooth as butter and that slight buzzing sound I had since these were new is no longer present. I feel I didn't brake in the pads correctly when I first installed these. I did it by the book this time and the brakes are perfection.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

Thanks for the update @jaydee23

I have the same rotors but am still running the Centric 305 pads that came with the kit. I've often wondered if the drilled/slotted rotors can be turned, and if all pads would work seamlessly with the custom rotor.

You went through all the trouble and $$$ of turning when you could have just unbolted 2 bolts to remove the caliper and put on brand new rotors.
