New Pads or New Rotors?
New Pads or New Rotors?
Hey guys I just wanted your opinion on this topic. I have the OEM sport brakes. I do lots of spirited runs on the highway with friends and such but no track runs. Under hard braking, lets say on the highway I get a lot of judder, especially when I hit the brakes at higher speeds. Tried resurfacing the rotor but it came back under really hard braking. Would I get better bite from just switching to say like Hawk Pads or should I just switch to StopTech Slotted Rotors with new pads? I found a deal for StopTech Slotted Rotors and Centric Posi Quiet Pads for $450. Never tried out those pads, anyone running them? Thanks

I'm using the new Hawk HPS 5.0 pads and they are really really nice! I'm running Stoptech drilled with HPS 5.0 pads all around, really happy with the setup and they bite very well on the highway (I want the 6-piston Brembo's)

So this is what I have come down too. So someone help me choose. Get Stoptech slotted rotors with posi quiet pads or get R1 Concepts E-line Slotted rotors with Stoptech Street performance pads. Comes out to same price for both.
I'd give a look at the latest Hawk HPS 5.0 pads, be sure they're the 5.0s, get excellent reviews for daily driving. Stoptech Pads have great bite but dust a bunch and are more prone to uneven pad deposits. I still have them on my rear brakes and they've been good but hard to argue w/ the great feedback I'm hearing on those 5.0s.
Another vote for Hawk HPS 5.0 pads. I switched from StopTech pads to these 5.0's last Spring and haven't regretted the switch one bit. I have zero qualms about recommending them in any car application they're made for and friends I've got to switch to them in the last half of '15 have been ecstatic about them so far (2009 335i, 2005 GTO).
I had 80% pad left on the StopTech's if that tells you anything about my experience with them. Great bite, but not really aggressive/daily friendly from what I found. The 5.0's just compliment our cars greatly. Pair them with Centric blanks (cryo treated if you want) and you can replace rotors and pads for under $500. Slotted/drilled is honestly for looks if you're willing to potentially face the pitfalls of their inherent designs entail.

How's the dusting and noise compared to stock pads with the HPS 5.0?
Since I am also about to change brake pads l hope you don't mind if I ask my questions in this tread too.
1. The infiniti dealer said I need only brake pads (they were around 3/8). I am hearing the squeeks but other than that no shaking or anyhting and the brakes still stop fine. I am planning to go with only pads do you think I should still change the rotors too?
2. I have the sport model so planning on buying Centric posi quite ceramics. They are around (front and back) 85$ total. Anyone having experience with them?
3. Planning to take it to an indy since I don't have a place to change it myself. How much do you think the labor should be for a brake pad job? Btw I was also looking at Tire rack and same break pads were around 30$ more expensive do they include installation to that price ?

2. Centric posi quiet pads are good quality and you should check rock auto to see how much they run on there because they usually have the lowest prices
3.Labor on Pads is probably going to be around 140 for all four. Just an estimated guess. I have paid 120 as well 60 per axle. Job isn't that hard or time consuming so shouldn't be more than that.
