Staggered set on X sedan

Hey everyone,

Really need some help with getting this set of wheels for my car. Stressed trying to decide on the sizes of everything, there’s just too much info. Currently I’m running 19x8.5 with 255/40 all around.
I’m looking at the esr cs12 in a 19x8.5 +30 and 19x9.5 +35 for my X sedan as a summer set. I’m hoping to get a 285/35 in the rear with either a 245/40 or 255/40 up front, but I really don’t want to have to modify fender at all, aside from trimming the fender liner.

or would I be better off going with a 19x9.5 +35 255/40 squared?

Currently I have coil overs, front and rear camber arms as well as rear toe arms. But I don’t want to take the chance of burning through tires quickly since I’m looking at the continental extreme sports which are pricey to go through quickly.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You will be good to go with that setup, especially if you use some camber. I wouldn't go wider than the 285 in the back.

Cheers

Sounds good! Do you think I should go with the 255 up front, even though there'll be a negative variance? Or should I size down to the 245?

You need to make sure your circumference is the same all around, so check the specs for your 245/255 tires before purchasing.
Squared is the safest bet, and will be best for wear as you can rotate to prolong tire life.

Check page 18 in the following link.

Brad has laid out what tire sizes work well with the awd system. The important thing is to keep the outside diameter of the tires within 1% variance of each other. For your rim sizes, 245/40 in the front and 275/35 in the rear are a very popular choice for these cars on the OEM coupe rims which are of very similar dimensions to the ones you have.

Reading your original post again, you might want to consider a tire with better tread wear if you are worried about burning through them, considering its awd you don't necessarily need super sticky tires, but to each their own. The positive variance on the 245/285 will shrink overtime since the awd system is primarily rwd until it senses slipping and you have camber and toes arms to dial in your alignment as well.
