Replacement parts for akebono brakes

Hey everyone, where would be the best place to go for replacement pads and rotors when you have the akebono kit?

RCA Garage, RockAuto, TireRack come to mind - the usual culprits on internet sales. You should be buying a brand of rotor and pad (Centric, Powerstop, etc) so *where* you get it is a matter of price. I'd stay away from eBay and perhaps even Amazon (as they've had issues with fakes).

There's also the dealer/online infiniti dealers/Z1 OEM parts.

Or spend the large dollars and get Z1 2-piece rotors and your choice of aggressive brake pad like I did lol... overkill for 99.9% of street cars.

Didn't even notice original post date - the forum showed it as an unread.

What did you end up with?

I don't think I'd brag about that, but good for you saving money on something you don't think is important.

I expect you'll get $160 worth out of these brakes.

They are the brakes we put on almost all our cars we do brakes on here in the shop I work at, I think they'll be fine
That price was just with the discounts I got hooked up with from a friend, wouldn't be that cheap for the average joe

Even at 100% markup ($320) that's in line with standard aftermarket replacement rotors and pads. I'd say he got a good deal on standard quality stuff - and if the braking performance is what he wants it to be, who are we to judge?

Despite not having been on a racetrack since 2007 I still have the perception that when I stomp the brakes, the earth should rotate a little slower because of it. So I'm not your 'typical use case' LOL.

thanks man, yeah my car was in dier need of new pads, and the front rotors were warped, definitely 100% improvement over what i had. I don't need to spend outrageous money on performance brakes, keep in mind my car already has the akebono brake package, more then adequate for a daily driver that may see spirited driving on occasion. My only reason to upgrade from what I have now would be just to look good, and these brakes imo look amazing as is. It helps I did my own brakes so the install was free, lol. Perks of working at a shop where I can use a lift helps too 😁
I think my only brake "upgrade" i will do in the future are brake lines, maybe better fluid? But that's not really needed either

So I think the Z1/Stoptech rotors, Hawk HP5.0, Motul fluid and Z1 steel lines set me back $1200 for parts. Did my own labor. Of course, a large part of that is the $600 Z1 two piece and $300 stoptech slotted/coated rotors.

got my moneys' worth though. Had two incidents this week with someone driving across 4 lanes of traffic running at 65 when they were going 25 and blocking multiple lanes... I stopped short of impact. Next lane over didn't. That's 2 t-bone accidents THIS WEEK right in front of me. WTF is wrong with people this year?

I mean, if we had SD drivers in SC that *might* be the issue. No, it's like everyone is in a stressed-out hurry and driving erratically or stoned AF and slothing it up in fast-moving traffic.
