I have a G37xS coupe so I have the OEM silver Akebonos. I really want them in red. My thoughts were to purchase some that were red, then sell my current silver set.

I came across this eBay post that seemed to be a GREAT deal ($599 for the whole set, they even list Inifniti/Nissan part numbers):

But then I saw one of the reviews saying "My calipers are Powerstop rebranded Akebono calipers. The set can be found on other sources for about half the price of these. Dont pay double to have someone apply a sticker (yes a sticker) to cheap calipers."

I started digging around and found these Power Stop calipers, which look identical to OEM (and just like dude said, half the price):



In the Questions sections of the Amazon pages, Power Stop (MANUFACTURER) themselves literally state:
"Hi, these brake calipers are re-manufactured OEM calipers. Therefore, they are whatever material that came with your original caliper. "
Then I see another comment state:
"They're remanned Akebono, which I believe is Brembo rebranded..."
Another comment:
"It is for both and they're remanufactured Akebonos"
There are also a lot of comments saying they are replicas.

Which is it?! Do Power Stop = Remanufactured Akebonos? Or are they replicas?

 

I have never heard of "Replica" brake calipers, if they say re manufactured they are probably manufactured..theres a few threads on the site that are active on the deal on ebay right now appars to be less than $300 for the set...

 

They are remans, only real downside is the condition/finish can vary quite a bit w/ each part. Some might be close to factory condition, some may be heavily pitted/dinged, so it's a bit of a gamble in that regard.
Rockauto.com used to have good pricing on these sets, might check there too.
