TPMS missing?

I bought a used 2014 q60 with 29k miles on it.
it had aftermarket wheels on it, but the dealer reinstalled the factory wheels on it before I took delivery of it.

Later that day, my TPMS warning light illuminated. I figured it was because after the wheel change the dealer forgot to register the TPMS with the car.

I had the TPMS checked by a local repair shop, they used the remote device and said it appears all 4 TPMS are "dead" or missing.

Question: the valve stems look like OEM Nissan TPMS stems, is it possible to have the TPMS looking stems but no TPMS inside the wheel? I wouldn't think that at 5 years old all 4 TPMS are dead? Thinking about taking it to a tire shop to have a second opinion.

Took it to a tire shop, the TPMS were fine, they synched them to my car for free. All is well.

Yeah, I know. All the sensors are dead in my Titan. I just disabled the TPMS on that truck. These ones are only 4-5 years old, should last another 2-4 years.

I was planning a short trip when my warning light went on.

Normally, like the rest of you, I would have pulled over to the side lifted my car with one hand and unbolted the tire with the other, while leaving something underneath to keep the car from being on the ground.

Instead I went over to Costco, which was around 500 ft from where the warning went off. They told me they would take 3 hours. Since I didn't have my patch kit with me, I decided to give them a try. It was interesting, they took off the tire, which I wouldn't have done. Then then patched it and I guess they put a new battery in my tmps sensor, because they charged me for it. They also topped my other tires with Nitrogen and took the torque wrench to the other tires to make sure they were bolted sufficiently.

Never had gone to Costco for tires or patches, was surprised how much time they would take on such a thing.

Did they charge you for that nitrogen? If so, what a scam.

I would say that you guessed wrong. Did you actually see them put a replacement battery in your TPMS sensor because they are sealed and their batteries are non replaceable.?
