new brakes squeal
I recently changed the brakes on my 11 sedan (not akebono).
I used Centric Premium Brake Rotors and Hawk HPS High Performance Street Brake Pads. In the front I reused the shims and in the back there was no shims. I put grease on the tabs of the pads. But in the last few days I am hearing a high pitch squeal when lightly pressing the brakes. If I press more aggressively the noise is not there. Any ideas?

I did not re grease the areas. I have not had the chance to take it all apart and apply more grease. I will say I did grease nicely the clips where the calipers slide on. What I did not grease was the back of the pads. I also did not apply grease to the shims on the front pads and reused the shims.
Yeah, that grease fills in the micro gap left when the pad isn't tightly pressed to the rotors. Without the grease it's free to vibrate at that annoying frequency that you hear, typically low speed/light pressure braking seems to be the most prone to this.
