new brakes squeal

I recently changed the brakes on my 11 sedan (not akebono).
I used Centric Premium Brake Rotors and Hawk HPS High Performance Street Brake Pads. In the front I reused the shims and in the back there was no shims. I put grease on the tabs of the pads. But in the last few days I am hearing a high pitch squeal when lightly pressing the brakes. If I press more aggressively the noise is not there. Any ideas?

I did not bed them in. I will do that. I am not sure how bedding them in will get rid of the squeal when medium pressure is applied?

I will give that a try and see if it resolves the high pitch squeal.

Grease should also be applied behind the backing plates (when no shims are used)and a light coat on the shim/backing plate mate, and a heavier coat on the shim/piston mate surface.

Bedding the brakes seems to have done the trick. Followed Hawks instructions and smoke came out a bit and now they really bite and are quiet.

See, bedding in goes a loooong way, not to mention it's a blast to do.

Did you grease all the areas I mentioned above^^Also the sliders too since you have the floating calipers.

I did not re grease the areas. I have not had the chance to take it all apart and apply more grease. I will say I did grease nicely the clips where the calipers slide on. What I did not grease was the back of the pads. I also did not apply grease to the shims on the front pads and reused the shims.

Grease those shims and pads! That the shims are used won't make a difference as long as they're not misshapen due to wear.

Yeah, that grease fills in the micro gap left when the pad isn't tightly pressed to the rotors. Without the grease it's free to vibrate at that annoying frequency that you hear, typically low speed/light pressure braking seems to be the most prone to this.

Ok success again. Removed the pads are put more grease and also added some to the shims. So far its good, I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks.
