Should Front Wheel Hub Spin Freely?

I took my front wheel off and spun my rotor and it was spinning quite nicely, but when I took the rotor off and spun the hub by itself, it wasn't spinning as freely as with my rotor on. Is my hub okay? My car is RWD journey.

Were you applying the turning force on the studs in both cases? Or were you turning the rotor itself?

The rotor is a pretty heavy object and the flywheel effect will cause it to turn easier than an unloaded hub if that makes sense.

It will spin more freely with the rotor in it than without it. If you are concerned, check it for play by pulling/pushing on opposite sides. If it rocks in and out, that's a problem. It should be tight.

Yes I was turning by the studs in both cases: with rotor and without rotor. There was no free spin at all when the rotor was off and took a bit of energy to turn it. As far as play goes, I didn't notice any movement. I was wondering because watching video of people replacing brand new hub it seemed like they were able to free spin maybe half turn with minimal effort.
