Zero Camber, Stock G37S help
Zero Camber, Stock G37S help
Ok, so here is the deal, my car is completely stock...As of now I do not want to change the suspension set up (maybe in the future $ depending). I have a problem with the factory tires cupping. I called bridgestone and they said they would cover 50 percent of the tires if I get my camber set to zero. I had the car on the alignment rack and everything is within speck according to Infiniti. My questions are;
1. Is this possible on a factory set up without a camber kit?
2. Is this really going to affect the way my car drives (I am not hard on the car and it has never been on a track)
I am debating having the car set up at zero then having it realigned after the fact at factory specs.
Thoughts??

Dealer checked everything. Apparently it's just the tires. I'm not beating the car enough according to Firestone. They say the camber is set way off from the factory causing the cupping issues.
So the dealership says alignment is within spec and Firestone says it's way off? One of them is wrong. Start there. Find out for sure. Tires don't normally develop cupped wear unless something is wrong with suspension parts of the balance of the wheel. It's not just a defective tire. Cupping is caused by the tire tread surface skimming unevenly along the ground as it rolls. Something is causing that which is your actual problem, not the cupped tire itself. If you just replace the tires and you'll have the same problem again pretty soon.

First, thanks for your replys, I have been fighting with both of them. The G is set up aggressive from the factory, this is from both infiniti and bridgestone. Its set up so that during heavy corning and acceleration it squats giving the tire more contact. I have argued with both that the pairing of these tires with this car was done from the factory and this issue should have been addressed previously. Firestone is claiming that cupping can not come from a defect in the tire but from how the tire is making contact with the ground. In my case they say to zero out the camber and it should help with the cupping on the future tires. They will only offer the 50 percent if I show them an alignment printout showing the camber to be zero. Does this make more sense?
To me that sounds lazy. Infiniti set up the suspension to work correctly in spec, not with camber zeroed like they want you to do. Ask yourself, how many other G37 owners whose suspension is not set to zero camber have cupping? I've given you my thoughts on it. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows? But your problem isn't bad tires IMO, its a wheel balance or suspension problem issue IMO.
I'm on my second G, first one has 90k miles (a friend now owns it) and my current 09 has 50k miles, both w/ alignment in spec (and certainly not zero camber). Both have had perfectly even tire wear, couldn't ask for better wear. Something is amiss w/ your suspension like BB stated.
