Akebono hardware
Akebono hardware
Finding ways to save money is always great when looking into mods.
So I came across an article on Infinitiscene.com while doing a general search on the Akebono Upgrade.
The thread can be seen here, but the forum member doing the upgrade bought both the oem kit, pins, and clips for a little over $107 and then found a kit including all those same parts from RockAuto for a little over $10. Props to him for checking out both and doing a comparison, and found little difference between the two.
Besides saying something like "you can't get quality at that price" I wanted to gather everyone's thoughts here. Has anyone purchased this kit?
I thought I would share this info with all of you here since I often times see people looking for these hardware kits and spending upwards of $100.

I buy stuff from rockauto all the time. In fact I just got a set of brake pads for the G sedan there last week. As far as the caliper hardware, it is perfectly fine. Sometimes parts like those may be the EXACT same parts for the generic and the OEM parts, although in this case it isn't. Personally form my experience I'd have no reservations whatsoever. I got all my caliper rebuild hardware form y brake rebuild on my Maxima from rockauto. It seems to be holding up just fine.
Good to hear it, it is always nice to hear from someone that has had experience with the company as well.
I look at it as $10 shipped is what it should cost considering what the parts are.
I have been looking around a lot and considering putting an Akebono kit together, some parts are about the same cost wise company to company, but this is one area that you can save a decent amount of money.
