I promised I have done searches on this matter, but I am still having trouble diagnosing my issue:

I just recently installed 20mm spacers on the rear, 15mm spacers on the front, new tires 275/35/19 rear, 245/40/19 front, and Tanabe front springs, in that order. After the spring install the shop did a full allignment and a Roadforce balance. I am getting pretty dramatic steering wheel vibration at about 60-65 mph. I felt a very small vibration after the install of the front spacers, before all the rest was installed, but now the vibration is much worse. I also am feeling a steering wheel vibration now when I brake.

Any thoughts? I would have hoped that the allignment and balance would have helped but it seems to have made it worse. Could it be the spacers? Warped rotors? Help please!

 

It's only warped rotors if you brake.... I'm pretty sure it's the spacers, especially with stock wheels and if you are rocking Ichiba spacers.

If your rocking H&R (the better brand), then you might want to take off the spacer and re-fit it or something.

Also it helps to know if you have the V1 or V2 of the spacer. V1 is a PITA to install.

 

I have the Ichiba V2 spacers. I thought I did a good job of sanding down the rust so they fit well.

I'm running 15mm spacers all around and have no vibration at ANY speed. (And I've been on the track with them.) Have you tried removing the spacers to see if the problem goes away?

 

Thats my next step. Was trying to narrow it down before I did but that seems to be the best place to start before I pay for another balance or reallignment.

As far as the bent rims, I dont recall hitting any major pot holes that would cause that. Something to keep in mind though...

I would bet almost anything that it is the spacers. Try taking them off and remounting. Also some people did some sort of wire fix for spacer vibration. I never had any issues with mine so have not had to do it first hand.

Front spacers removed... Vibration gone. Either its time for better spacers or a better installer.

 

Did you make sure to torque down the spacers the same way as your wheels? Are they hubcentric?

 

Ichibas are known to vibrate. Some people seem to experience it whereas some don't. Check your tire pressure, corner balance, and re-torque your spacers properly. If that doesn't resolve the issues, I would purchase some higher quality spacers like H&R drm or Project Kics spacers.
