Dash lights on ABS/SLIP/VDC/BRAKES

I just had my rear tires replaced and went from 275/30 (too small OD) to 255/40 (0.3" larger OD than stock) and now the dash lights up like a christmas tree. Lights come on after driving about 1/2 mile. I called the dealer service and they didn't think it would have anything to do with the tire swap. I have changed tires before, snow tires are 225/45 all around, and the lights didn't come on.

Anyone know what might be going on? Thanks for any input.

Dan,

If it is the ABS/SLIP/VDC/BRAKES lights that are on then I would suspect low brake fluid. Any leaking in the garage? Check the bake fluid level first if you have not already.

I would check wheels speed/ ABS sensors. May have been disconnected or damaged. All those lights described can come on due to sensor malfunction. Good luck

The only thing that changed on your car was the tires so that seems like the problem. Also. I had the same exact problem as you when I tried to go different tire sizing. The car thinks the front and rear wheels are rotating at different speeds now so the abs lights and traction control are kicking in

It is just the lights listed in the thread title. When the wheels were off I looked on both sides for anything loose or broken and didn't see anything out of the norm. Do the TPMS sensors inside the wheels have any other function other than TPMS (the TPMS light is not on)?

Here is the latest,
Took it into the dealer and they topped up the brake fluid and said the front pads were 7 mm and the rears 5 mm, both ok for now. They thought topping off the fluid would take care of it. Lights came back on 1/2 mile from the dealership. Taking it back in tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

I can almost guarantee it's your tire sizing throwing the wheels sensors off ....

After having it at the dealer for 1 1/2 weeks where they replaced the ABS control module and something else, I picked the car up today. 1/2 mile from the dealership the lights are back on. I am going to try to get the tires exchanged for different size. Why would smaller diameter but wider tires be ok but slightly larger diameter set off the works?

"275/30 (too small OD) to 255/40 (0.3" larger OD than stock"

your rears are smaller and rotating faster, the fronts are larger rotating slower. the car computer is goings nuts as it thinks your car is slipping as the sensors arent reading as they should.

the sizing most people on with no issues seems to be 245/40-19's on the front and 275/35-19's on the back

..i had the same issue with you when I got different tire sizes on. if you dont feel comfortable playing with sizes, get OEM sizes. many tires available now that fit our car
