Hawk HPS or Ceramic?
Trending Topics
The ceramics would have no metal content. I have a mild squeal when medium braking but that's because the dealer didn't use shims or brake grease/lube behind the pads. I'll be pulling them off and greasing the backs. But I love my ceramics and how little dust they throw on the wheels. It's so nice not to have to rinse/wash them nearly every day (the OEM pads were brutal for that). When it comes time again I will DEFINITELY get the ceramics again.
I had the Hawk HPS on my old Altima SE-R and they had great stopping power, no fade, but they dusted quite a bit. Initial bite when cold was a little less than OEM, but when you started putting some heat into the pad, they performed much better than stock.
I've used both and they are each great in different ways. The ceramic has been a bit gentler on my rotors, nearly no dust, and quiet. They tend to fade off when operating in a higher heat range. Not recommended for track use.
The HPS will toss a bit more dust and can make a little more noise. They have better bite in the mid to high heat range and work well for aggressive street drivers.

Pretty interesting article I saw the other day and I thought about this thread:
