Tire Sensors

I just picked up an 08' G37s coupe about a week ago and decided to take it for a drive today. It's been garaged all week so regardless of the cold weather here in NYC it's been kept warm. I've driven it for about an hour so far and the tire sensor was on the whole time. I checked the tire pressure and it seems about right. Can't really imagine what else it can be. Tires are brand new too. Any ideas? All help is appreciated!

"About right" might be enough to trip the light. Best to keep them exact to rule out pressure as the cause.

I think the tpms system on the g is setup to come on when there is a difference in pressure across all 4 tires....it's not tied to a specific psi in the tire so if you make them all equal it should go off.....I also think it needs some time once the pressure is corrected...if not there is a how to on this site i believe

Negative, TPMS is triggered when any of the tires has a pressure < 27 psi.

The car knows exactly what psi your tires are at, but it is not programmed to display it. Unless you have amazing hacking/reprogramming skills, you cannot make the car display it. It'd be cool tho.

Yeah, judging from more reading in the FSM it looks like the receiver can get the tire pressures but the body control module must not be communicating them to the LCD display, or the LCD display doesnt know what to do with the info if the BCM is sending it. Either way, the BCM and/or LCD are probably specific to our cars, so probbaly a no go.

A couple other interesting things I noticed in the service manual:

Consult III can be used to change the wiper speed. Even if you dont have rain sensing wipers, it looks like they can be set to link the intermittent speed based on vehicle speed.

Also, there is a setting called auto-lock time. Is that a passive lock setup, so once you leave the area of the car with your iKey, it will lock automatically after a certain amount of time? Im not sure on that one, but it sure would be nice to have something like that (my dads car does this)

you prob have a bad tpms or one is a little off inside one of the tires. would have to have the tire taken off and put back on for it to be corrected
