H&R DRS Spacer issue
H&R DRS Spacer issue
This is half the same vibrating issue that some of you have experienced, but then there's something else.
I brought my G to my wheel guy to get my 15mm DRS spacers installed, and he wasn't exactly sure on what he had to do to mount the spacer.
Here's what he said he did:
1. Wheel and rotor removed no problem.
2. OEM studs removed no problem.
3. Extended studs installed no problem.
-This is where he messed up and I believe is the reason I'm vibrating-
4. Because he didn't know exactly what he was doing, he tried to put the spacers on the hub without putting the rotor back on. It didn't quite fit right so he hit it with a rubber mallet to see if it would seat correctly and ended up breaking off the hub that the spacer makes, This part.
*note, not actual spacer I used, just shows the piece I'm talking about well.
5. In order to get it to fit, he ground down the inside of the spacer to get it to fit over the hub itself.
6. Realized what he did was wrong and put the rotors back on.
7. Put the spacers over the rotors as he should have done in the first place.
8. Everything else was installed correctly.
9. Aligned the wheels.
I was kind of keeping an eye on his work the whole time and wasn't 100% sure on the install myself, so I took his word as to what was right.
Anywho, after alignment, I took it for a spin, and it was just fine in the city. When I got on the Interstate, it got to vibrating a bit between 60 and 80 like a lot of people's have.
I know the DRS spacers are kind of new and not many people have them, but I was wondering what steps I should take to correct the situation.
I was thinking I should try that G35 spacer vibrating correction with the copper crush ring, but not completely sold on that being able to correct my problem.

you should of gone with the spacers with studs built in.
all he should of have done was. remove oem studs, install new studs, place spacer over studs with hubcentric ring and put wheel back on.
no need for alignment or balance.
