Yes, it does help to check the manual.

Today, for the first time in two years, my TPMS light went on. It’s been a bit cold this week in LA. Sure enough, two tires were at 28psi. I filled all four back up to the recommend 33, but the damn light stayed on.
As I about to make a trip to the dealer, I decided to check the manual first. Ah ha! It clearly says the car must be driven above 16mph to reactivate the TPMS and turn off the light (page 2-13). One quick run around the block and the light was out.

Good to know that the TPMS warning kicks in at 28psi.

Just FYI, if it ever starts blinking when you turn the car on then continues to stay lit it means the TPMS is malfunctioning. Mine's been doing it for weeks now and I checked the manual and thats what it said. Just been too lazy to take it in, plus I check them on my own anyways.

I would take it in as soon as you can. As it happened to me a few years ago, it could take less than 30 minutes for a slow leak to bring a tire down to a dangerous level under certain driving conditions. So unless you’re checking your pressures every half-hour, a functioning TPMS is IMO a worthwhile safety feature.

Ya. How could we have ever survived the last 50 years without it? If your losing enough air in 30 minutes to bring your tires down to a dangerous driving level then you've probably already noticed this problem and should have gone to the appropriate store and had it taken care of. Sorry if I come off harsh but people have become to dependent on computers telling them when something is wrong instead of actually paying attention and doing a little bit of maintenance. I'm guilty of this as well. My truck I check the tires on once a week. I should do that with the car but the computer system has made me lazy and I'm upset at myself over it. That and my blasted TPMS light keeps going off after the car sits for a few days and none of the tires have holes in them.
And yes, I survived driving for over 55 years without most of the safety devices we have today, like dual brake lines, seat belts, air bags, padded dashes, collapsing steering wheels, turn signals, third brake lights, anti-lock brakes, and of course, that blasted TPMS. Where those devices not needed? No, like many other old timers I was just lucky. The higher vehicle fatality rates that existed before these devices came into play proves that point.
I’m sorry, but it’s my belief that checking your tires once a week without a functioning TPMS is insufficient for reliable road safety.

Wow this is quite funny, I was out of the country for a little more than 2 months, came back to the G to find the my tire pressure warning on my dash, filled them back to the suggested 35 psi and that thing still wouldn't go off! I'm like this is weird. So I go down and recheck all 4 tires again and they're all at 35 psi!! Then I remembered reading your thread yesterday so I decided to drive around for a bit, some seconds later it was gone!! Thank you Chekov
