Exclamation Steering / Alignment Problem - CASH REWARD

$125 cash reward to the individual who is responsible for resolving the steering problem with my vehicle; READ ON.

Once upon a time I had a passion for the automobile and driving...

I am on my second 2008 G37. My first one had 4WS and the alignment and driving experience was great from the start. During the first winter I had the misfortune of hitting a pothole. From that point on my car never drove well again, even after many visits back to the dealership for alignments and even after tweaking the 4WS mechanism the car would exhibit strange and inconsistent steering.

I went as far as writing letters to Infiniti corporate and spent many hours on the phone with them but they did not provide any additional help. After a while (one year) I gave up and sold the car back to the dealership (lost money) to get another 2008 G37 without 4WS.

I liked the 4WS "feel" but I figured that this feature could make things more difficult to fix when it came to steering feel/alignment if poor roads caused problems once again.

Well apparently lightning has struck twice in the same spot - my new G37 without 4WS never drove good from NEW with only 80 miles on the odometer. I had a bad wheel bearing at 4,000 miles and then after another visit at 5,000 miles the dealership finally did an alignment and it drove well for a couple weeks. Then the problem came back.

The car is often lots of "work" to drive - it does not exhibit steering pull but the car will wonder back and forth (poor steering feel / poor steering response) and the driving is a hassle on long trips in particular. As the driver you have to constantly anticipate which way the car will drift in an unpredictable fashion when driving on a straight road. Frequent spastic steering corrections are needed to keep the car within the center of the lane at times.

There is something fishy about how the steering system works on this car. The dealership can do an alignment and all is well and then it gets bad so quickly AND the steering problem EVEN CORRECTS ITSELF for a few hundred miles at a time - of course the Service Manager said this was not possible.

IF ANYONE has some insight into this situation that would resolve my problem 100% I would give them a cash reward of $125 via PayPal.

The one individual who provides the best insight into the specific resolution that allows my car to drive like new again for a minimum of 1,500 miles will get $125 sent to them via PayPal from me. That simple.

I'm about to take it back to the dealership again for service. I'm so tired of not having a car that I can take pride in because of this steering problem - sucks all the joy out of driving and owning such a good looking vehicle.

If anyone is experiencing similar problems I would really like to hear. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated. If you live in the Milwaukee area, please introduce yourself.

i have the same feeling! i had an 07 g35 with ras and that thing handles really good. after the lease i bought my g37 and the moment i took it to the freeway i notice the handling isn't that great. i constantly have to correct my steering. it's either oversteering or understeering. first i thought i just need to get use to it but it just never gotten better.

other than the steering everything else is really cool with this car.

hmm i wish i could help but the handling/steering is the one of the top things i like about the car, i can let go of the steering wheel on the highway going 70, and it will stay straight for a very long time

So you took your car to the dealership with this alignment issue AFTER lowering it? If so, I'm surprised they even looked at it once they noticed it was lowered; unless the dealership did the lowering.

Sorry to hear a couple of you are having this problem. Maybe it's a specific batch with this issue.

In Cali wouldn't the "lemon law" apply? Unless I not completely informed, lemon law states that if you take your car in more than 3 times for the same problem then they have to replace or re-buy the car. Not sure of the last part.

Hey jungwoo0622, PM me his info. Though I don't have any issues, it never hurts to know someone good.
