Do anybody have problem with front crossbar rust? My 2011 with 24K miles garage kept from day one have big rust problem and this is not surface rust. All other parts under the car looks normal with little surface rust but crossbar looks bad with chunks of rust falling. 4 years warranty is over but 7 years rust protection should cover this? Have appointment with my dealer and just asking if any of You guys have same problem. New crossbar is over 600$. Ouch.

The entire underside of my car is rusty from winters here, but not to the point of chunks of rust falling off, just surface rust.

 

Mine is not to bad for Chicago only this stupid bar. I am ready to have some BS from the dealer.

 

My crossbar had some surface rust and it seemed to go a bit deeper by some of the joints. In Minnesota you have to keep up on rust maintenance before half of your car disappears.

I cleaned it up with a wire brush and then treated it with por15 metal prep. Planning on painting with por15 coating in a few days.
