Any1 with Megan Coils?
which coilovers are the MOST basic? and therefore best priced? I don't need all that 80 ways adjustable rebound and control stuff...I'm merely looking to be able to raise it during winter and drop it for the warmer season. I don't care about flash or brand - just function. Any suggestions?
Some of you that have them will be happy, some won't . I had freinds with Megan coils. Some of them blew out or leaked oil after a few months. Yes most of them are manufactured from the same company but most of them are manufactured to company specs.
They might be made from the same manufacturer but the internals are different like gas pressure, rod sizes, valves.
If you think they are all the same, that's not true at all.
Why spend your money on something cheaper that could potentially cost you more in the long run? If you have to replace it after year, you already spent more money than buying something proven without problems. I don't think you can re-valve Megan or Bc racing but I know u can re-valve teins, hks, kw

i just got my BC coils and the build quality is up to par with the tiens and hks coils ive held. also, the customer service is superb, couldnt ask for a nicer group of people.
btw, BC makes the coils for megan and stance.

Do things like Coilover springs exist for G's? for example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SKUNK...item5638b99fe0
I do a lot of work with a few coilover manufacturers. With that said, yes, most coilovers that are commonly heard of are in fact all coming from only 2 or 3 different manufacturing plants that are private labeling them for the companies mentioned here. So sometimes it is rediculous to hear for example; "I like the $%^& brand coilovers, but #%^@ ones suck" .... hahaha LOL Espscially when for all you know (and very likely) the two different coilovers are coming from the exact same manufacturer.
I see statements like this all the time on the forums.
LOL
To answer your question.... the Megan Racing coilovers are just fine and are a nice alternative especially considering the price.

First off, nothing against Megan Coilovers, but that is a ridiculous statement!

Have you heard of something called research & development... commonly referred to at R&D? This activity is known to produce superior technology and design when coupled with brighter engineers and companies with larger budgets.
While I imagine you're not far off in stating most coilovers are manufactured at only 2-3 factories in China, Taiwan, or elsewhere... these are merely build-to-print manufacturing shops (i.e. they build what they are told to build by the contractor). Nothing regarding the technology that goes into the coilovers is determined at these locations, and the most noticeable variable would be build quality. I imagine quality and manufacturing systems at these factories are similar...
In the end, you get what you pay for...
